पृष्ठीय क्षेत्रफल क्या है? किसी 3D वस्तु के बाहर की सभी सतहों (Surfaces) के क्षेत्रफल के जोड़ को 'कुल पृष्ठीय क्षेत्रफल' (Total Surface Area - TSA) कहते हैं। उदाहरण के लिए, किसी डिब्बे को गिफ्ट पेपर से पूरी तरह पैक करने के लिए जितने पेपर की जरूरत होगी, वह उसका पृष्ठीय क्षेत्रफल है।
1. घनाभ (Cuboid)
इसकी 6 आयताकार (Rectangular) सतहें होती हैं।
शॉर्टकट: 2(lw + wh + hl)
- एक गिफ्ट बॉक्स की लंबाई 20cm, चौड़ाई 15cm और ऊंचाई 10cm है। इसे पैक करने के लिए कितना रैपिंग पेपर लगेगा?
उत्तर: 2×(300 + 150 + 200) = 1300 sq cm - एक ईंट को पूरी तरह से पेंट करना है जिसकी विमाएँ 10" × 5" × 3" हैं। पेंट होने वाला कुल क्षेत्रफल?
उत्तर: 2×(50 + 15 + 30) = 190 sq inches
2. घन (Cube)
इसकी 6 वर्गाकार (Square) सतहें होती हैं, जो सभी बिल्कुल बराबर होती हैं।
शॉर्टकट: 6a²
- गत्ते से एक चौकोर डिब्बा बनाना है जिसकी एक भुजा 5cm हो। कितने गत्ते की जरूरत होगी?
उत्तर: 6 × (5×5) = 150 sq cm - लकड़ी के एक क्यूब (Cube) की साइड 10 इंच है, इसे बाहर से पॉलिश करने का एरिया क्या है?
उत्तर: 6 × (10×10) = 600 sq inches - एक रूबिक क्यूब को प्लास्टिक फिल्म से ढकना है, जिसकी भुजा 3 इंच है। फिल्म का एरिया?
उत्तर: 6 × (3×3) = 54 sq inches
3. बेलन (Cylinder)
इसमें एक घुमावदार (Curved) हिस्सा होता है और ऊपर-नीचे दो गोल ढक्कन होते हैं।
शॉर्टकट: 2πr(r + h) [जहाँ π ≈ 3.14]
- एक बंद पानी की टंकी (त्रिज्या 7m, ऊंचाई 10m) बनाने के लिए कितनी लोहे की शीट लगेगी?
उत्तर: 2 × 3.14 × 7 × (7 + 10) = 747.32 sq m - एक कोल्ड ड्रिंक के टिन कैन (त्रिज्या 5cm, ऊंचाई 15cm) को पूरी तरह एल्युमिनियम फॉयल से ढकने का एरिया?
उत्तर: 2 × 3.14 × 5 × (5 + 15) = 628 sq cm
4. गोला (Sphere)
इसकी पूरी सतह गोल होती है (इसमें कोई कोना या किनारा नहीं होता)।

- एक फुटबॉल की त्रिज्या 14cm है, इसे बनाने के लिए कितने चमड़े (Leather) की आवश्यकता होगी?
उत्तर: 4 × 3.14 × (14×14) = 2461.76 sq cm - एक ग्लोब (त्रिज्या 10cm) को बाहर से पेंट करने का कुल क्षेत्रफल क्या होगा?

What is Total Surface Area? The Total Surface Area (TSA) is the total area of all the outside surfaces of a 3D object. For example, the total amount of wrapping paper needed to completely cover a box is its Surface Area.
1. Cuboid
It has 6 rectangular surfaces.
Shortcut: 2(lw + wh + hl)
- A gift box is 20cm long, 15cm wide, and 10cm high. How much wrapping paper is needed?
Ans: 2×(300 + 150 + 200) = 1300 sq cm - A brick is to be completely painted (dimensions 10" × 5" × 3"). Total area to be painted?
Ans: 2×(50 + 15 + 30) = 190 sq inches
2. Cube
It has 6 square surfaces, all perfectly equal.
Shortcut: 6a²
- How much cardboard is needed to make a closed square box of side 5cm?
Ans: 6 × (5×5) = 150 sq cm - A wooden cube has a side of 10 inches. Area to polish from the outside?
Ans: 6 × (10×10) = 600 sq inches - Area of plastic film required to cover a Rubik's cube of side 3 inches?
Ans: 6 × (3×3) = 54 sq inches
3. Cylinder
It has one curved surface and two circular bases (top and bottom).
Shortcut: 2πr(r + h) [where π ≈ 3.14]
- How much metal sheet is needed for a closed water tank (radius 7m, height 10m)?
Ans: 2 × 3.14 × 7 × (7 + 10) = 747.32 sq m - Area of foil needed to completely wrap a tin can (radius 5cm, height 15cm)?
Ans: 2 × 3.14 × 5 × (5 + 15) = 628 sq cm
4. Sphere
It has a completely round continuous surface (no edges or corners).
Shortcut: 4πr²
- A football has a radius of 14cm. How much leather is required to make it?
